I had an unprotected home wireless connection for over a year (before I realized that my neighbors were using my bandwidth and slowing me down, bastards). They might have been stealing my data, I bank online, my bank is virtual.
Kitchener is a modern and very connected city, but unlike other cities with similar demographics we are not doing everything to we should to protect ourselves from the growing threat of cyber crime (mostly identity theft). In a study by Norton, Kitchener ranked as the 10th riskiest city in Canada, behind cities like Vancouver, Calgary and Toronto.
