Video – Home staging is more than de-cluttering and depersonalization

before afterI’ve often said home staging is all about the de-cluttering and depersonalization of your home. The idea about de-cluttering is to create an open atmosphere that is not awkward; most people have too much stuff in their homes (and condos) and navigating around it can be difficult. With depersonalization, you are trying to not get between the potential buyer and them imagining themselves living in the home; your doll collection and pictures of your family get in the way.

But as the video below demonstrates, home staging is also about light and space and how things are arranged in a room. For home staging do-it-yourselfers, the best way to start is by clearing out the room and then adding only what’s necessary. And just because the bed has always been on that wall doesn’t mean that’s the best place for it.
