Real estate vocabulary you might need to know when buying or selling your Kitchener Waterloo home: Joist
A joist is one of a series of horizontal wood members used to support a floor, ceiling or roof. They are usually 2-inches nominal thickness.
Joists are laid on edge over beams and bearing walls at 16-inch intervals. They derive their strength largely by their depth.
