Downtown Kitchener

Downtown Kitchener

Downtown Kitchener’s Civic District and the Victoria Park neighbourhood

The north part of downtown Kitchener is comprised of two neighbourhoods: the Civic Centre and the Victoria Park neighbourhoods. The homes in these neighbourhoods are about 100 years old and are on streets lined with mature trees. There are also several condo apartment towers, some retrofitted from old factories and others brand new, (the glass and steel type).

Victoria Park is one of the main focal points of the neighbourhood. First opened in 1896, the park is on a large lake surrounded with willow trees and beds of flowers. The park hosts many of the city’s festivals and events. Many other events are hosted in the square in front of Kitchener City Hall.
