My last house in Taiwan was a three bedroom two bathroom townhouse in Panchaio, a suburb of Taipei. It was about 600 square feet, a luxurious amount of space in a city of almost 7 million.
The townhouse was about ten feet wide and had two floors. It was off a four-foot wide alley, which was off a six-foot wide lane. Narrow spaces in Asia are simply part of life.
When we moved back to Canada ten years ago, we couldn’t believe the space our 1400 square foot townhouse had. Have a look at this photo essay of really thin buildings in Japan.
