Kitchener Cambridge Train news

goGo Trains will start running in about a week (December 19) and to sweeten the deal, our politicians have further sweetened the already sweet deal (one way to the Big T.O. = $14.60) with the following sweeteners:

Grand River Transit passengers can pay only 50 cents to and from GO trains.

Free shuttle vans from the Charles Street transit bus terminal to the train station.

123 free parking spaces for GO passengers at King and Victoria streets. Another 139 spaces will be made available in 2012.

Are those some sweet incentives, or what?

In other train news, Cambridge is appealing to regional council to be exempted from paying for the LRT, a service e they are not going to fully enjoy. It’s true. It’s unfair, but they are getting buses and a promise. That must be worth something.
