RIM had a bad week

RiMIt was another bad week for RIM. They fired the two drunken executives that disrupted an international flight. Another executive got blamed for instigating an Indonesian riot. Rim was forced to change the name of their BBX smartphone operating system in a trademark battle in the US. And this is all on top of their downtime fiasco about six weeks ago.The stockholders are restless. RIM’s stock value has fallen this year by about 70%.

You ever hear of the Peter Principe? It says that people get promoted one level beyond their level of competency. I think it’s time for RIM to seek some outside help. The company has outgrown its current management style. It’s still a great company, but if it has another year or two like this – it’s over and that would be bad news for Waterloo too.
