Dreaming Alpine Dreams
Between Blockline Road and the Conestoga Parkway, Courtland Ave and Strasburg Road to the east and west is the small but well formed neighbourhood of Alpine Village. Modest, post-war suburban homes: back splits, bungalows and townhouses on quiet streets lined with mature trees give the neighbourhood a comfortable, “homey” feel. There are two things I really like about the neighbourhood:
- It is affordable
- It has a good central location
When I lived in the neighbourhood many years ago, McLennan Park was one of my favourite things about living there. On the site of the former Kitchener City Dump, once known as Mount Trashmore, it has been transformed to a great hill for tobogganing, hiking and biking. There is a BMX bike trail, skateboard park, a dog park, playground with splashed as well as volleyball and basketball courts. The park is sometimes the venue for summer musical concerts.
Activa Sportsplex is over 100,000 square foot facility that hold two NHL sized rinks, boxing facility, gym and track.
